I had another great workout this morning! I jumped ahead and did Saturday’s planned swim & bike, although I only rode for 45 min (vs the plan’s 10 min at Level 1 then 60 min at Level 2).
Here’s the workout:
- 1 x 100 yds (level 1 intensity, took 2:11), rest 60 sec
- 4 x 50 yd Drills, resting 50 sec after ea (kickboard took 2 min, closed fist took 1:09, R side took 1:19, L side prolly same)
- 5 x 50 yd at Level 2 intensity, resting 50 sec after ea (ea took 55 sec)
- 5 x 50 yd at Level 3 intensity, resting 50 sec after ea (ea took 42-50 sec)
- 1 x 150 yd at Level 1 intensity, which took 3:08
Then stationary bike ride for 45 min, 16.74 mi.

Two of my "fan club," doin' their thang with the pool noodles!
The little old ladies in the pool are PRECIOUS! OMG! I normally swim around 9am and they are usually there already…well, this morning I got there before they did, so there was no one in the pool. I changed in the locker room and when I was about to open the door, here they came! I said “I was wondering where you guys were!” and one of them kissed me on the cheek! I am going to have someone take my picture with them soon, because they are too sweet and one of the reasons I already love going to use that pool! They put a smile on my face and it makes me happy to see them exercising. One of these days, i’ll tell them i’m a Personal Trainer and show them a few exercises.

33 years young on the left...and however many years young on the right...stayin' healthy is a lifetime thing!
If that wasn’t enough, as I was riding the bike, another little old lady comes in to use a treadmill. She walked for a bit, then rode one of the recumbent bikes for a bit, and then hopped on the multi-station chest press. She banged out a few reps, then hopped up pretty fast and left the room. She was gone for five minutes or so, then came back and returned to her chest presses right after I had finished my ride. I asked “how are you doing?” and she replied, “I had to go to the bathroom…this stuff really works your bladder! It’s like an old car, eventually it wears out.”
I was TICKLED! Priceless stuff! I love senior citizens!
What’s really awesome about training for The Austin Triathlon is the fact that not only am I doing this for MYSELF, I am motivated and encouraged by so many people in my life. My friends, family, clients, and online friends/colleagues really do help me keep going. Even the little old ladies at the pool motivate me. Right now, things are relatively easy with my training, compared to how things will eventually get. As I said in yesterday’s post, i’m in the Aerobic Stage of my program. I am in my fourth week of training and have nine weeks til the race. The amazing people in my life give me all the more reason to get there and get things done. Also of note is the fact that I am truly enjoying the process of training for this race. It’s nothing like the torture I put myself through years and years ago when I did fitness competitions. I was not as level-headed back then, and did way too much. I know better…i’m older and wiser.
Hope you all are training harder, smarter, and loving life!
Yours in Health,
Sarah
