Most of the stuff that came out of my trunk in order to make room for my new "toy"!
Life sure is crazy!
I don’t know which is better…a recap of a few days of training or daily posts. Oh well, guess i’ll do what I wanna do!
Anyhow, here’s the recap!
Sunday = Easy Swim. Avelina met me over at Sheila’s house so she could help her with her technique. We basically farted around for a bit, swum a few warm-up laps, and Sheila worked with her on her form. Then I did six sets of 2 minutes on the tether, with every other one using the pull buoy. Avelina swam laps while I did this, and we rested 1:30 between each set. Not an exhausting workout but I was worn out from Saturday and my body didn’t feel like it was fully cooperating! Total yardage was somewhere around 800.
Monday = Run. I warmed up for 10 minutes (L1), then ran four miles at L2, and cooled down with a little jogging (but had to leave pretty fast afterward because I had a 7:00 client). I set my Forerunner to use heart rate zones as the “L1″ and “L2″ indicators. Result? The damn thing beeped at me the entire time. I felt like I was going sooooooooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooow in order to keep it from chastising me! The heat/humidity sure does a number on my heart rate level. I was a little frustrated but then began to realize that the more endurance training I do, the better things will be. I am still trying to get a feel for my pace, as I typically try to go too fast & end up dying, lol.
Totals: 55:19, 4.94 mi (4 miles in 44:17)
Tuesday = Swim AM/Bike PM. I felt pretty tired prior to my swim, but in typical Sarah fashion, did it and gave it my best.
The pool at the facility I go to STILL has a broken heater, and boy howdy…it was cooooold! My “fan club” wasn’t there, which made my workout mojo drop a few levels, but again, I got in the water and just did it. It was me and the pool. Kind of a surreal thing…a bit of a creepy feeling, to be honest, but peaceful as well. Also, it was raining outside, so that was kinda cool.
Here’s what I did:
1 x 150 (L1) = 3:25, Rest 60;
4 x 50 Drill, Rest 30 after ea;
4 x 100 (L2) = 2:00/2:00/2:01/2:05, Rest 30 after ea;
4 x 50 (L3) = 55 sec ea, Rest 45 after ea; 28:40 when done, then
1 x 100 (L1)

Prior to assembly/fitting...& removal of gooberish reflectors!
MY BIKE FINALLY ARRIVED! I took it over to my friends’ house Tuesday evening and DJ assembled it while the rest of us laughed at the size (it’s a 48cm) as well as the tiny front wheel (650, vs 700 rear). It’s a Terry Isis and apparently the frame’s design works with the 650 front wheel. I watched a video on YouTube a week or so ago on this:
Once DJ sized the bike for me, she hopped on it and it was HILARIOUS because she is 5′8 and has long legs, and it looked like she was riding a kid’s bike! We were cracking up!
I went on my first official ride on my new “toy”! DJ, Debbie, and I went for a 50 minute ride, which was 16 miles or so. They were impressed that I could hang with ‘em, but not surprised, lol…as they both said, i’m already in shape. I think they both have plans for me entering a few road races!
Wednesday = Ride. Today was my first official solo ride! I rode for an hour and a half, and am guessing it was 30-35 miles. I messed up while turning on my Garmin and skipped the “locating satellites” step, therefore I have no idea of my pace, distance, etc. Also, I got rained on a bunch, but had a blast! My initial thought when it started raining was, “what if it gets really bad?” I was 15-20 min into my ride, and pretty far from my car. Then I thought, “suck it up…Lance Armstrong has probably ridden in the rain a gazillion times!” So, I kept riding and turned around when I realized I was riding into the rain. My plan to escape the rain didn’t really work, because either the showers were spotty…and that raincloud seemed to hover over me. It actually felt pretty good!

Can't wait for clipless pedals to arrive Friday!
Here’s what I did:
10 min (L1)
30 min (L2)
5 min (L3) on small chain ring
30 min (L2)
5 min (L3) on small chain ring
10 min (L2)
I am currently in a state of “very mellowed out” and will be getting a massage at 4:00! yay!

Wow that all sounds terribly exhausting. Hope as you ramp it up you have time to fit it all in amongst life and stuff!
Hi Anna!
It is! Case it point my current state of exhaustion…naptime soon! I think I may need to write a post about fitting it in, like you mentioned, amongst life and work, etc. Important stuff for people to think about. All work and no play makes Sarah a dull girl!
Have a great day!
Sarah
